Pastor John Allen

John E. Allen is a semi-retired Ordained Elder of the United Methodist Church from the West Virginia Annual Conference having entered the full time ministry as a second career in 1981. John earned his B.A. degree 1986 at Glenville State College and received his Regents B.A. Degree in 1990; he attended United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio graduating in 1990 with a Master of Divinity Degree and graduated 1996 from United Theological Seminary with a Dr. of Divinity Degree with emphasis in Church development.

Dr. John was recognized as “Man of the Year” 1984 in Calhoun, County, West Virginia for leading the fight against poverty and “Pastor of the Year” in the Weston District of the United Methodist Church in 1986 for his work with youth and Church growth. From 1986 until 1990 Dr. John was pastor at St. Paul United Methodist Church New Paris, Ohio while earning his Master’s degree. He led the complete construction phase of an education wing of the church that had been planned for a very long time. From 1990 until 1996 Dr. John served Memorial United Methodist Church in Williamson, West Virginia with the directive turn it around and lets write it down to help others. He led the renovation of the parsonage and church facility and Dr. John wrote his book “ TURBO GROUP Leading and Empowering Lay ministry in the 21st Century” and founded Southern West Virginia Housing Project Incorporated a 501-c3 non-profit. They built several million dollars building houses with volunteer labor , grant funds, and donations.  From 1996 to 2005 Dr. John served St. Paul United Methodist Church in South Charleston, West Virginia. He led complete reconstruction of their fellowship and gymnasium facility and the church building including an elevator purchased a brand new Parsonage for the Church. From 2005 until 2013 Dr. Allen lead Spruce Street United Methodist Church in Morgantown, West Virginia in the construction and renovation of their facility originally build in 1830. After retiring Dr. Allen received the opportunity to serve New Vienna United Methodist Church without Church construction and fund raising agenda as part of the appointment. With enthusiasm and joy he accepted the part-time appointment. We are growing, Sunday School at 9:30 and Worship at 10:30 Am.

At each appointment over the years not only did Dr. John lead construction and fund raising he also led spiritual and physical growth at each appointment.
